Mary is a seasoned marketing executive with more than 25 years of experience in a wide range of marketing competencies including brand strategy; plan development; sponsorship, experiential, and influencer marketing; integrated communications; consumer PR; and specialty retail customer marketing.
Since joining BTP in 2016, Mary has been leading integrated marketing plan development and execution for CLIF Bar & Company. Prior to BTP, she served as a Senior Marketing Director for The Gatorade Company, a division of PepsiCo. During her 17-year tenure, she contributed to the explosive growth of one of the world’s most iconic sports brands:
- Mary was the architect of Gatorade’s youth pipeline strategy executed through experiential and grassroots marketing, key influencer partnerships and advocacy initiatives. Youth athlete engagement and product efficacy understanding – both of which lead to an athlete’s life-long connection with the brand - grew from 500K to 5.5MM athletes under Mary’s leadership.
- Mary led integrated marketing communications and sales efforts in the Education (middle school, high school & college) and Sports Specialty Retail Channels. Under her leadership, penetration, revenue and equity measures experienced double-digit growth.
- She orchestrated the formation of the “G Force,” a 20-market field marketing team that was a new marketing, selling and distribution model to incubate product and service innovations for the brand’s most critical stakeholders.
- As a member of the marketing leadership team, she deployed an aggressive expansion strategy to grow the business from a “sports drink” to a “sports fuel” company in the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, U.K. and Australia. She led the development of an athlete performance service model via the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, and championed the opening of satellite laboratories at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL and Loughborough University in the U.K.
Prior to joining Gatorade, Mary was an Event Marketing and Public Relations Manager for Philip Morris USA. In her role, she managed sports and entertainment publicity campaigns for sponsorships of professional auto racing, women’s professional tennis, amateur grassroots and music events. Mary began her career with Edelman Public Relations Worldwide.
Mary has a reputation as a strategic, collaborative and results-driven marketer and team builder with a strong understanding of consumer and influencer dynamics. She holds a BBA in Marketing from Loyola University Chicago.
